Conference days child care info
If you need child care during conferences on the 10th or 11th, you may bring them to EverAfter. This is free of charge! Due to conferences being split between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, one being during regular after school time and one during an all day care day, we have two different plans, so please read carefully:
For Thursday afternoon, the 10th, we will host drop-in care on the lower playground and Multipurpose room from 3:55-8:00 (SEE ATTACHED MAP!)
For Friday morning, the 11th, we will host drop-in care in the gym.
In both cases, you will need to bring your child(ren) in with you, speak with EverAfter staff, and sign them in and out. You MAY NOT just send them to wherever you see other kids. It'll take you a few minutes to do that; please plan accordingly so that you are not late to your conference time--your child's teachers' time is both valuable AND limited!
We also ask that if you prefer not to use EverAfter, please keep your children with you, or just outside of whatever classroom you are conferencing in. Unsupervised kids will be sent back to their parents or to the main office. Thanks for keeping kids supervised and safe!
Additionally, if you need all day care for your child on the 11th, and you are registered for EverAfter, please refer to information in the EverAfter Newsletter dated 4/3. For questions, please reach out to EverAfter Director James Wilson.

Her collection spans from prints to wearable art, she even has a colorful little vending machine that dispenses mini prints. Kira has ensured that her bold style comes in all price points!
Let’s gather to support this ‘Evergrown’ community member! Or stop in anytime between now and 4/30!
*Parents please note that a portion of the collection are powerful and surreal depictions of Helene, you can preview these pieces and more, and follow Kira via her Instagram: All Around Artsy!
(Think Kira looks familiar? Kira’s Mom, Lauren, is our artsy EverAfter Staffer!
If you’ve had fabulous art coming home from EverAfter, that is Lauren’s influence!)
After School Dismissal
Once your child has been sent to Ever After, they must be signed out from the gym by a caregiver. If you are in the traffic line and your child is in Ever After, you will be asked to park so you can sign them out in the gym. Please do not request that staff retrieve them via walkie or by foot.
The beginning of EverAfter is a busy time and if students are not signed out by their caregiver with EverAfter Staff it is very hard to get an accurate count of how many children we are caring for, resulting in staff searching for ‘lost’ children, causing stress and inefficiency.

The Power of the Pause: Helping Kids Build Impulse Control
Impulse control is a crucial skill that helps children and teens make thoughtful decisions, manage emotions, and build strong relationships. Research shows that children with strong impulse control tend to perform better academically, have fewer behavioral challenges, and experience greater long-term success. In fact, the famous "Marshmallow Test" by psychologist Walter Mischel found that children who delayed gratification were more likely to have higher SAT scores, better stress management, and healthier social relationships later in life.
Since impulse control is a developing skill throughout childhood and adolescence, parents play a key role in strengthening it at home. Here are some simple, practical strategies to help:
🛑 Model the "Pause and Think" Strategy: Before reacting to a frustrating situation, verbalize your thought process: “I really want to interrupt right now, but I’m going to take a deep breath and wait.”
🎲 Use Games to Make Self-Control Fun: Activities like Simon Says, Red Light, Green Light, or even board games requiring turn-taking help children practice patience and delayed gratification.
📆 Create Predictable Routines: When kids know what to expect, they are less likely to act impulsively. Structured routines help them learn self-regulation skills.
🗣️ Encourage Self-Talk: Teach children to use phrases like “Is this a big deal or a small deal?” or “What might happen if I do this?” before making a decision.
🌟 Praise Effort, Not Just Outcomes: When children successfully manage their impulses, acknowledge their effort: “I noticed you stopped and thought before grabbing that toy—great job thinking first!”
Developing impulse control is a gradual process, but with consistent practice, children can learn to manage their impulses effectively—setting them up for lifelong success.
